Youth Leadership Academy
The Engage 8 Leadership Academy (E8LA) takes an innovative and holistic approach to transforming emerging youth leaders into self and community advocates. The E8LA was born from a collaboration of organizations in Northeast Denver coming together to discuss the current gaps in youth programming across.
The E8LA seeks to increase the numbers of socially and economically disadvantaged youth who are attending and graduating from college, becoming successful and productive members of society, and using the lessons they have learned to reach back into their communities to break the cycle of poverty. E8LA was developed in an effort to bring existing programming together where each organization can leverage their strengths collectively to reach and serve this most vulnerable population. All other E8LA programming will be built using existing organizations’ areas of expertise, resources and staffing. These combined applications of programming form a unique approach to youth leadership development.

Senior Initiative
This initiative enables seniors in our community to remain in their homes rather than going into assisted living with support for daily living by community volunteers. It helps seniors age gracefully in their homes while building a more connected community.
The residents of District 8 are encouraged to indicate their interest in either receiving services such as daily wellness calls, grocery shopping, snow shoveling or by volunteering to provide these services to seniors or others with temporary needs due to medical issues.

Bicycle program
Engage8 received 36 brand new huffy bicycles from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business and we have been distributing them to well deserving youth in our community! To date, we have partnered with the Cole Beacons Boys and Girls Club, the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Denver, and Whittier Elementary School.
At Whittier Elementary School we used the bikes as incentives for students to work hard in the Accelerated Reading Program. This is a year-long partnership, so bikes are given away at the end of each term. At Cole Beacons Boys and Girls Club, students who attended a bicycle safety program had the opportunity to win bikes in a raffle. The bikes for Major Taylor Cycling Club will be used for youth to ride during bicycle safety demonstrations as well as neighborhood bike rides. We will continue to find innovative ways to partner with other schools and organizations as we move forward with the distributing the remaining bicycles.
